C.M. Punk in for a Short Title Reign?

From Jason Powell of ProWrestling.Net:

The unanimous opinion of Dot Net sources is that C.M. Punk’s title reign won’t be a long one. The feeling is that Vince McMahon wanted to shake things up in a big way and still does. One source noted that nothing in WWE should be considered a long-term move at the moment because of Vince’s mindset.

However, multiple sources agreed that Punk’s title reign is reminiscent of Bret Hart’s title reign back in 1992 when he defeated Ric Flair for the WWF Title. The feeling at the time was that Hart would be a short term, transitional champion. However, he won people over quickly, and there is optimism that Punk could do the same.

If you guys listened to The Rant this week, you know one of my fears is that C.M. Punk’s title reign won’t be well-booked, ala Rey Mysterio’s last year. If it does end up being a short reign, let’s hope they give Punk at least one big win.

Unfortunately, the big rumor is that Great American Bash will feature ANOTHER freaking triple threat match for the title, with Punk taking on Cena and JBL. That gives the bookers a really easy out–just have Punk pin JBL again, and not John Cena. This is very similar to the way they booked Mysterio, unfortunately–he won the title by pinning Randy Orton in a triple-threat, and not Kurt Angle, who was the champ at the time. Then, he feuded a bunch with JBL. Oh no, I’m getting bad flashbacks.

But seriously, what’s the consensus here? Will the WWE give Punk a short title reign with no real notable wins to elevate him, or will they have him beat at least one big opponent (i.e. John Cena) in a one-on-one match?

The PWBite Rant Episode 19: Return of the King

In my opinion Episode 19 of the PWBite Rant is the best yet. I finally got the audio issues worked out and this week Jade and I are joined by long time PWBite Arron and some guy named Lex Luthor. We discuss WWE Night of Champions, CM Punk and Kofi Kingston’s surprise championship wins, UFC 86, John Cena’s new album, the genius that is  Santino Marella and much, much more.

MY WWE DRAFT Prediction

gets:
Cena. Smackdown needs faces. Its been Batista, Edge, Taker since King Booker lost it, except for Kahli’s short reign.
Beth. Moving to Smackdown would make sense. How many DIVAS are left on RAW for Beth to run over?
Kennedy. To feud with Edge possibly. Kennedy may also go to ECW and become champion there.
London and Kendrick
UUUUMAGA
Snitsky
CM Punk

outside chance of cole to raw and JR to smackdown WONT HAPPEN THOUGH!

gets: take note that ECW will be on the road with RAW
JBL
Jeff Hardy. Lets face it, Hardy will never become a RAW champion. If he moves to SD or ECW, then it is believable that he can become heavyweight champion. If he went against edge, then maybe Lita could return for one night and Matt would help Jeff become champ. Team extreme would return for one night.
Big Show.
Carlito. His push begins here.
Noble
Finlay
gets:
Kelly Kelly
Natalia
Batista. Fresh feud. He will become part of the new evolution, along with Orton. Remember, Orton asked Batista is he would like to team up. Batista didnt say yes, but he didnt say no
MVP. WWE will build him back up. SD writers dont know what to do with him.

WHAT announcers will be drafted? Lillian? King?

ECW Discussion: Kane vs John Morrison/CM Punk vs Miz

First off, NO I wont stop putting up the ECW discussion because one of these days something amazing is gonna happen on ECW and were all gonna wanna talk about it. Two matches have been scheduled for tonights ECW episode 101, Kane vs John Morrison and CM Punk vs The Miz I guess to pump up the Kane and Punk vs Morrison and Miz match that was just added to this Sundays Judgment Day PPV. And speaking of Morrison and Miz does anyone watch their dirt sheet video’s on WWE.com they can actually be pretty funny maybe one of these days the WWE will air those on ECW in lue of another boring Mike Knox match. Getting back to tonight’s show Mick Foley will also be making another appearance on Matt Striker’s Classroom segment so they got that going for them. Go ahead I dare you to discuss ECW here.

Can Someone Explain This?

I watched the King of the Ring tournament last night. The whole tournament seemed designed for Mr. Money in the Bank CM Punk. Then, he loses CLEAN to a guy (Regal) who barely wrestles anymore and when he does he loses.

I thought the whole point of a tournament was to to get someone over. Why did they need to get William f*ckig Regal over. HE’S NOT SELLING ONE PAY PER VIEW BUY. NEVER HAS NEVER WILL. Maybe if you put Punk in a feud with someone we care about, I WOULD PAY TO SEE THE MATCH. Regal’s not selling one fucking buy, meanwhile Punk isn’t even wrestling at Backlash.

Someone explain why did Regal win this tournament and how did this help CM Punk?

Any *credible* answers would be very appreciative.

“The” Jsnwwf’s WM 24 review….and its bigger than Texas.

The” Jsnwwf’s Wrestlemania Review

This is long, so get ready to read. As JR would say, “Bye God, this is a Wrestlemania sized blog post”

580+ comments for a discussion= NEW PWB record, by more than double.

Lex, don’t change a think. I was thinking about this. I wasn’t there for the discussion because it would spoil me later watching the show, via internet, but still observed the discussion. If there was a chat, then comments wouldn’t be saved. With comments saved, its there in cement (figure of speech) for those missing the discussion and new PWB members to observe.

On to the show…

Let me say now, Howard Finkle, the only performer I believe to appear in every single Wrestlemania. Is he in the Hall of fame?

With low hopes for the PPV, I enjoyed it immensely. Having the WWE Title match come before the World Title match was a good move because the was little talk about the triple threat match. While the storyline between Edge and Undertaker sucked, it was guaranteed to be a better match.

Finlay vs JBL:

I was a bit surprised for this to starts the show because this was a “big” storyline, god bad. I what was even more shocking was Finlay actually losing. Who predicted this? Why? I thought for sure that Hornswoggle would dance at the end giving the show a feel good moment. Good match. Best parts of the match included Finlay with a suicide dive through the ropes and the part with JBL throwing a trash can into Hornswoggle’s face from inside the ring to the outside of the ring.

Great opening match, how often is the opening match at a WWE PPV this good?
Out of 10, give this a 6.5 overall.
—————————————————————————————–
MITB match:

lol at Coach being there and getting no mic time.
Great match. In fact this has to be the greatest MITB match, ever. The best athletes that WWE has to offer were in this, other than Noble, Wang, Kendrick, London, and Rey. Great spots including Benjamin killing himself, a Morrison moonsault (with ladder in hand), Morrison climbing an unset ladder then busting his balls, and both Carlito and CM Punk jumping from rope to ladder. The moment of the match had to go to Matt Hardy. I can still hear a ringing in my ear from that pop. Mixed chants of “HOLY SHIT!” and “THIS IS AWESOME!”

CM winning? Another one I didn’t see coming. He will definitely move to Smackdown or Raw if WWE has a Draft in the next weeks.
P.S. TNA a pathetic. Who the fuck would be looking up during the MITB match to miss a big spot? TNA = stupid. Noone could read that stupid sign anyway, idiots…
8.5/10
—————————————————————————————–
Batista vs Umaga:

”ZZzzzzzzzzz……….”
I expected a good match out of this. I was waiting for a “Boring!” chant. The finish was funny. Botchmania here we come. That’s the Batista we all remember.
2/10
—————————————————————————————–
Chavo vs Kane:

I’m SO glad that Kane gets a title reign.

11 sec. match. Good for Chavo. Its serves him right for doing drugs, AFTER Eddie died. I picked Dreamer to be in this, even though I wanted Kane to win. When will an ECW wrestler win the title? Kane is from Smackdown, just like Chavo.
5/10 because Kane won.
—————————————————————————————–
HBK vs Flair: Smackdown vs Raw match, oh wait…Flair is really a RAW guy, right?

Anyway…

Flair breaks out the ole’ school Flair tights. WOW! A FUCKING CLASSIC, from beginning to end. HBK almost dies in the first 3 minutes outside of the ring, but continues. Then moonsaults off the turnbuckle to the outside to have flair not catch him, ugh. HBK has 3 lives. Blown spot in the middle. Its ok, Flair, its ok.

Great “Struggling dog put to sleep” ending.

Austin said a few weeks ago that he has never seen HBK screw up. That got me thinking, has he ever, I mean other than with the super kick on numerous occasions(ladder match with razor wasn’t his fault)? The best wrestler ever, period.
8/10 Only HBK could have had that type of match with flair, well maybe Triple H or Taker, but that’s it.

Too bad Flair didn’t do “The Turnbuckle Spot.”
—————————————————————————————–
Great promo by Edge
—————————————————————————————–
Great Pyro
—————————————————————————————–
Bunny Mania:

LOL at this coming after HBK/Flair. It’s sad that Mickie and Victoria are on the sidelines. Don’t be surprised if you see them in TNA. “Ohh wee.” Ashley is fugly, ok?!!!?..with no ass, might I add…

How dead was the crowd? You could literally see people leaving to the bathroom. I wanted the crowd to cheer went the place went dark..Sting?
Lawler didn’t get his match, but I guess he got something.
I’m done with this…

WTF? Snoop and Maria? WWWWWWWHHHHHHAAAAA????
-0.34398439392934/10

HHH vs Orton vs Cena
I don’t care about this so it will be short.

Cena entrance was corny, without his theme. Who’s bad idea was that? The spotlight in dark made mania better in my view. LMAO at Orton only getting 8% of the votes.

I swear, as soon as I saw this go early, I said that Orton was retaining. Predictable PPV, huh? Orton will lose it to HHH tonight on RAW o at Backlash.

6/10 Other than the crowd, this match didn’t live up to….oh wait it did live up to the built up. Next.

So far everybody that I wanted to win, other than Shelton has won.

—————————————————————————————–
Big Show vs PBF(Pretty Boy Floyd)

Like I said, Mayweather has two guys taller than Big Show, SERIOUSLY! Oh, so that’s where the 20 million is going, to the fans that bought Mania tickets. Making it rain, outside. Lol. Ok, I laughed when Mayweather started singing his own theme song.

meh. 40-0.

Is it em or does it seem like ECW and Smackdown doesn’t exist? Lawler does the interpromotional match and Tazz/Joey do an 11 sec match. That’s it.

4/10 Damn, I was hoping for 50 Cent. I guess he just lied. wtf?
—————————————————————————————–
Main Event: Edge vs Undertaker

1st off, I would like to congratulate Edge on finally making a Wrestlemania Main Event. A long time coming.

Lol at Coaches first words of the Night, near the end. They must have had a mute button on him.

I havent seen Edge/Taker yet, but I have to leave for college classes.

good mania. In the top half, maybe.

Pop of the night:
Matt Hardy,
Flair
Orton winning.
Big Show
Heat of the night:
HBK
Cena
JBL
Floyd winning
Batista
Match of the Night(show stealer):
Money in the Bank,
Flair/HBK

WWE Monday Night Raw Discussion: Punk & Jericho v. MVP and Carlito

Ric Flair

Another Monday night, another Raw. CAN YOU TASTE THE EXCITEMENT?

Well, OK, probably not. Regardless, tonight we’ve got CM Punk and Chris Jericho teaming up to face MVP and Carlito in a ladder match preview.

Speaking of Chris Jericho, how great was that MVP/Jericho bit on Smackdown this week? Who do you guys think won the verbal battle: MVP or Jericho? It’s close, but I’d go with MVP, just because he made fun of Jericho “saving us.” That cuts to the quick!

As of now, that’s the only match announced, but they are playing up Ric Flair’s last appearance in South Carolina, where tonight’s Raw is being held. He should get a great ovation in “Flair Country.”

There are only two more Raws before Wrestlemania 24, so the WWE better turn up the heat if they want to increase their buyrate (and Floyd Mayweather’s paycheck).

Here’s to hoping for Ric Flair in a career threatening handicap match against Snitsky and the Great Khali.

VOFD: CM Punk, NBA prospect?

WWE Friday Night Smackdown Discussion: Edge vs Punk, Taker vs. Big Daddy V

I guess Lex is out of pocket right now(that means missing for all the white people out there) so I’ll take the liberty of putting up the Smackdown discussion post.

Finally our prayers have been answered, we get to see Big Daddy V’s bitch tits in high-definition when he faces The Undertaker also Finlay will do his best to make his Belfast Brawl match with The Great Khali something close to watchable. But even though the WWE doesn’t seem to be hyping it in any of their SD! ads, real main event will be Edge vs CM Punk in a non title match. Plus are we going to see any more Royal Rumble qualifying matches? Last I heard there were 6 spots left.

P.S.

Just as a side note MVP appeared on XM radio’s Opie & Anthony show this morning. It was a terrific interview MVP talked about spending 91/2 years in prison and how wrestling kept him from going back. He also talked about how is MVP gimmick was based on the arrogant athletes he saw while working as a bouncer in a Miami nightclub and how out of all of the athletes he encountered basketball player Stephon Marbury was the one he wanted to knock out the most. I will post the video or audio clips as soon as I can find them.

ECW Discussion: Chavo Guerrero v. CM Punk, ECW Championship

My goal for the week is to get a discussion post up for every show. Two down, two to go.

Regardless, this ECW features an ECW Title match between Chavo Guerrero and CM Punk. Anyone think Punk will drop the title consider Edge will be in Chavo’s corner?

If Punk does drop, let’s hope it’s a sign that he’s moving on to bigger and better things. Chavo as ECW champ might not actually be so bad…he can wrestle and would make a good opponent for guys like Elijah Burke and Shelton Benjamin.

Random thought: you don’t hear a lot about Balls Mahoney lately, do you? I mean, granted, I’ve barely watched ECW in several weeks, but still.

State Of The Titles: Nov 2007

What’s this? The singles titles in WWE are starting to get some prestige back? If November is a sign of things to come then that is definitely the case. The Intercontinental and US titles are in the capable hands of Jeff Hardy and MVP respectably. With the latter just waiting on Matt Hardy to return and his brother in a potentially huge feud with Triple H, there is definite potential as WWE move into the new year. And that’s before we even look at the big three titles:

Randy Orton
It looks like Randy Orton has cleaned up his act and really jumped on the opportunity he was given. Though it feels like he took a dozen super kicks this past month, he ultimately came out looking very strong against Shawn Michaels at Survivor Series. While he won’t ever be flamboyant and brash like The Rock, Chris Jericho etc, he has a manner all of his own that is really starting to come to the surface. While it looks inevitable he will drop the belt to Jericho, I can’t see it happening immediately. He will get plenty of RKO’s in before it does happen.

CM Punk
The Smackdown and ECW roster exchange is just the thing CM Punk needs right now. He has more to offer than what ECW can provide yet ECW badly needs him as their top face, so he’s really been wasting away these past months on the show with an uneventful title run. His mini feud with The Miz and John Morrison hinted at the potential of the new generation of WWE stars though.

Batista
Batista is on a roll right now. Firstly, there was the shock victory against Great Khali to win the heavyweight title, then there was the renewed feud with the Undertaker. Those two have some great chemistry in the ring and they put on some great performances. Now that Edge is back things look even better. I think it would be rash to rush the title off of Batista, but it’s looking increasingly likely he will get screwed out of it by Edge and Vickie Guerrero.

TNA
I thought I would group the TNA titles together because it looks like they have forgotten what a title feud is all about. Angle’s feud with Sting was more about personal issues than about taking the gold and he’s now wasting away time in a feud with The Outsiders who aren’t interested in the title belt either. The X Division provides some potential now that Team 3D have stolen the belt but right now I can’t see it leading to anything special. With Tomko injured that’s the tag division on hiatus too. Come on TNA, let’s see someone step up and have a good old fashioned title chase!
