The PWBite Rant Episode 25: Live & Mother Fuckin Uncut

Episode 25 of the PWBite Rant is up. This is the longest episode ever mainly because I didn’t really edit out much due to time constraints. In our first Live broadcast Jade, El Nagual, Arron and I discuss the latest headlines which include Randy Orton’s re-injury, WWE’s latest round of releases, Mick Foley’s possible jump to TNA, and the lawsuit that Raven filed that could change the way TNA and WWE do business. I also give a review of TNA Hard Justice my first TNA live event and we make our picks for this Sunday’s Summer Slam PPV.

P.S.

Okay, so at the beginning of the podcast I go over all of this but I’ll do it again. First off I know the audio sucks even though I’ve done 25 of these things it’s still is a work in progress. Second, we will be continuing the live Stikam broadcasts every Wednesday night at 8pm EST be there or be square. And third if you like this weeks special opening theme you can download the entire Isaac Hayes tribute album by Cookin Soul here for Free!!! and be sure to check out there official Myspace Page and while your at it don’t forget to follow me on Twitter.

The PWBite Rant Episode 24: Stylin’ & Profilin’

Episode 24 of the PWBite Rant is up on time this week. Since Jade is on the run from Jenny McCarthy’s people it’s only Arron, El Nagual and myself. This week we talk about Ric Flair’s departure from WWE, the likelihood of Mick Foley resigning his contract, WWE’s injury list, Kaz’s new gimmick, and we talk about the now infamous Mike Levy incident(if you haven’t seen it yet check the video here). Also we go over the cards for UFC 87 and TNA’s Hard Justice PPV.

P.S.

Seeing as next weeks PWBite Rant will be episode number 25 which I consider a milestone I want to attempt to record it LIVE!!! via uStream or Stikam I haven’t decided which one yet. What this means is all of you will be able to hear and chat with us as we record Episode 25. I don’t have all the details worked out yet but the tentative plan is to do this next Wednesday, August 13 starting at around 8pm EST if this changes I’ll let you know. Paul Heyman’s Top 5

Paul Haymen is obviously ripping us off! Okay, maybe not but in the latest edition of the article he writes of The Sun UK he did put together is own top 5 list of the most underutilized talents in the business, here it is:

  1. Randy Orton
  2. The Entire TNA Roster
  3. James Mitchell
  4. Beth Phoenix
  5. Tito Ortiz

I think Paul Heyman has one of the greatest minds pro-wrestling has ever seen with that said I don’t really agree with any of the names on his list but if you read the entire article you’ll see he dose make very strong arguments for all his selection. I want everybody to post there own top 5 most underutilized talents in the business because I want to use some of them on the next episode of The Rant(I’m gonna try to go with a slightly longer format and I think I need more material). So, what do you think who in the WWE, RoH, TNA or MMA is not being used to there full potential.

WWE Judgment Day Discussion: Orton v. HHH in a Steel Cage

Editor’s Note: As always, no posting over this until tomorrrow!

First off, let me say this: can anyone believe Booker T actually made a PPV ad back in the day? I had completely forgotten!

Anyways, it’s time for another WWE PPV, Judgment Day. Here’s the card:

  • Steel Cage Match for the WWE Championship: Randy Orton v. Triple H(c)
  • WWE Tag Team Championship: Kane and CM Punk v. John Morrison and The Miz(c)
  • World Heavyweight Championship: Edge v. The Undertaker(c)
  • Triple Threat for the WWE Women’s Championship: Melina v. Beth Pheonix v. Mickie James(c)
  • JBL v. John Cena
  • Chris Jericho v. Shawn Michaels
  • Mark Henry v. Big Show (not listed, but supposedly added)

And there you have it. Now let me tell you why this PPV might not be that bad. Yeah, I said it. It’s actually not that bad of a lineup, regardless of the crappy build that they’ve  had.

Mark Henry v. Show is obviously a filler match, so let’s just throw that out right off the bat. Jericho v. Michaels may be a short feud-advancing match, especially with Batista promising to show up, so I don’t have high hopes for it, either. That being said, you know these two guys will have a good match leading up to whatever kind of screwy ending there is. I’m sure it will set up a triple threat match for next month.

JBL v. John Cena…I really don’t know what to think about that one. It’s a wild card, but it could be interesting. At least it’s something different.

The women’s triple threat should be a pretty good women’s title match, especially when Melina and Beth Pheonix start turning on each other. The tag match could really go either way, as well, but with Morrison and CM Punk in it, there should be some interesting spots.

I’m hoping this Edge v. Undertaker match will be the match they should have had at Wrestlemania. I’d love to see an all-out brawl–we haven’t seen Edge have a really good, wild match in a while.  I could be way off base, but I think this match will deliever.

Finally, we get to the steel cage match. I think this match really could have been built better, playing more on Orton and Triple H’s history, which would have made the steel cage much more meaningful. Still, these guys will probably go to great links to make this a brutal, bloody steel cage match, which we really haven’t seen in a while in the WWE. I think the cage was a good choice for the main event, and hopefully it won’t be a let down.

So, I guess it boils down to this question: are you going to buy this show? I’ve considered it since I don’t think it’s that bad of a card wrestling-wise, but it will be on a whim if I do.

As always, discuss the PPV here.

Is There No Pleasing You?

1mania.jpg

As I lay half asleep awaiting the replay of Smackdown, I thought to myself, wouldn’t it be marvelous if Randy Orton retained the WWE Title at Wrestlemania 24. It’s the perfect plan, no one would be expecting that; and with all the criticism of this Wrestlemania being far too predictable, a bold move like this would surely surprise us all. On top of the surprise, having the young, brash champion topple the crafty veteran, and replace the unstoppable force would be a Wrestlemania moment that WM23 missed out on. Think about it, JR shouting with the excitement, “Randy Orton has done it! Against all odds, Randy Orton is Walking out of the main event of Wrestlemania 24 still the WWE Champion!” But then I thought, would the smart fans take a finish like this and enjoy it for the surprise and historical value, or would they turn it around and complain that they have to endure another month of headlocks and mediocre promos?

The chances of Orton winning seem very unlikely at best anyway, so what about Cena? Assuming it’s a good match with an exciting finish, would a Cena win be all that bad? Well, I think so, although I am picking a John Cena victory, but it wouldn’t be as bad as the last two Mania main event finishes. At least we had a nice little break of Cena as champion.

Finally, the odds on favorite to walk out of the Orlando with the WWE Chamionship, Triple H. Most of PWB as decided that Triple H is going to win and once again be the official RAW hole digger (because you bury people in holes). The accusation that Triple H doesn’t put people over is arguable, but the fact is, aside from a two hour reign that made No Mercy a good PPV, HHH has not held the WWE Title for 3 years. If he wins the title tomorrow it will be a fine finish that won`t spoil the rest of the show.

My question to the PWBites is this: Is there finish to the main event that you will enjoy? Or no matter what happens, will you complain about it?

Spoiler Alert

This is from a friend of mine, back in Florida. Here’s the announced main event for Raw, the night after Mania, in Miami:

Countdown To Wrestlemania 24: Wrestlemania 23

WE MADE IT PEOPLE!!! For 22 straight days I’ve counted down every single Wrestlemania and now we’ve finally reached the end. Before I go ahead with the recap of Wrestlemania 23 lets just go over the main thing you should have learned about Wrestlemania in the past 22 days. Wrestlemania is never ever good from top to bottom for every match as good as Stone Cold vs Brett Hart there are at least 3 matches as bad as Kane vs Khali in fact any Wrestlemania with more then 3 great matches on the card should be considered a classic. With that said lets get to Wrestlemania 23.

Wrestlemania 23 set an all-time attendance record of 80,103 at Ford Field in Detroit, Michigan. The show also had one of the highest Wrestlemania buyrates ever with 1.2 million buys. The event was also the largest audience to assemble for a WWE event since SummerSlam 1992, which attracted 80,355 to Wembley Stadium in London, England. Aretha Franklin performed “America the Beautiful” at the start of the event, reprising her role from twenty years earlier at Wrestlemania III. Believe it or not this is the 5th consecutive Wrestlemania without an Intercontinental Championship match on the card and the 4th with the IC Champion being active on the card. Chris Benoit made his final Wrestlemania appearance when he defeated MVP to retain the United States Championship. Donald Trump made his third Wrestlemania appearance this time as apart of the show in the infamous Hair vs Hair match with Vince McMahon.

The Wold Heavyweight Championship match put The Undertaker’s 14 and 0 Wrestlemania streak against the champion Batista. After an exchange of several devastating attacks, including a Batista Bomb, Undertaker sealed his victory with a Tombstone Piledriver to keep his Wrestlemania streak alive. This was the fourth year in a row that the World Heavyweight Championship has changed hands at Wrestlemania. In the evenings final match Shawn Michaels took on John Cena for the WWE Championship this was Cena’s third year in a row competing for the WWE Championship in the main event. Like the previous two years John Cena would come out victorious bring his Wrestlemania record to 4 and 0.

Countdown To Wrestlemania 24: Wrestlemania 22

2440326.jpg

Tickets sold out in under two minutes for Wrestlemania 22 in Chicago, Illinois. Wrestlemania 22 marked the first Wrestlemania not to feature the winner of the Royal Rumble in the final match of the night since Wrestlemania XV in 1999. CM Punk made his Wrestlemania debut as one of the “gangsters” in John Cena entrance. Bobby Lashley also made his Wrestlemania debut in the Money In The Bank Ladder Match.

The World Heavyweight Championship match was a triple treat that featured Rey Mysterio, Randy Orton and the champion Kurt Angle. This was Randy Orton’s first time competing in the main event at Wrestlemania. The match at just 9 minutes and 18 seconds was the shortest for a world championship in Wrestlemania history. Rey Mysterio pinned Randy Orton for the victory giving him his first World Heavyweight Championship.  Mysterio at only 5’8 and 165lbs would go down in history as the smallest World Heavyweight Champion in history. Because the pin fall was scored on Randy Orton this made the third time Kurt Angle would lose a championship at Wrestlemania without submitting or being pinned.

In the WWE Championship match Triple H faced off against the champion John Cena although Cena was being booked as a babyface the majority of the capacity crowd was against the WWE Champion. After 22 minutes and 2 second Cena forced Triple H to submit with the STFU. This was the second time Triple H would tap out in the main event at a Wrestlemania the previous time being against Chris Benoit at Wrestlemania XX.

Countdown To Wrestlemania 24: Wrestlemania XX

90576.jpg

Wrestlemania returned to “The World’s Most Famous Arena” with Wrestlemania XX this was the third time Madison Square Garden hosted the event. The United States Championship was defended for the first time in Wrestlemania history when Big Show faced off against John Cena who was making his Wrestlemania debut. As a result of a pre-match stipulation, Molly Holly had her head shaven clean by Victoria when she was unable to capture the Women’s Championship. The Rock made his very last appearance as a competitor in the WWE at Wrestlemania XX when he re-united the Rock ‘n’ Sock Connection in a Handicap Match against Evolution (Randy Orton, Batista and Ric Flair). After an extended absence, Paul Bearer returned to WWE at Wrestlemania XX when a accompanied The Undertaker to the ring for his match against Kane.

Chris Benoit had been waiting 18 years to finally get a shot at the World Championship after winning the Royal Rumble the then SmackDown! Superstar decided to jump ship to the RAW brand to face Triple H for the World Heavyweight Championship. Shawn Michaels interrupted the contract signing, though, and hit Benoit with the Sweet Chin Music. With Benoit knocked out, Michaels signed the contract. General Manager Eric Bischoff settled the controversy and made the match a Triple Threat Match. During the epic battle Triple H looked ready to lock in the Pedigree on Benoit but Benoit somehow reversed it into the Crippler Crossface, and with Michaels out on the floor, Triple H tapped out. This was Benoit’s second time winning the World Heavy Weight Championship but was his first and only time holding it since both the title and Benoit moved to the WWE.

WWE Monday Night Raw Discussion: Cena & Orton v. The Raw Roster

I will hand it to the WWE: they avoided making their main event for this evening predictable. I’m sure everyone assumed (I certainly did) that it would be John Cena v. Randy Orton, but they’ve played it differently–Triple H has “booked” John Cena and Randy Orton to team up and take on the entire Raw roster.

Here’s what I see happening: Cena goes Superman, takes out Orton and the Raw roster, only to be put down by a Pedigree to the cheers of the crowd. Book it.

Tonight we’ve also got new IC champ Chris Jericho kicking off Raw with the Highlight Reel. His guest will be the Big Show…who I’m sure will be touting his butt-kicking of Money Mayweather last week on Raw.

That’s all the WWE has planned for now. Discuss Raw here.

Wrestlemania 24 Press Conference Live Updates

I’m lucky enough to be watching the live WM24 press conference(lucky me) here are some live updates.

3:00pm EST: Vince comes out and talks about how big WM is to the WWE and how they can do more at an out door arena then they can inside. Is it just me or is it weird to see Vince out of out side of his gimmick.

3:10 EST: Jonathan Coachman intros John Cena he gets his usual mixed reaction. Cena thanks Vince for putting WM together, Cena says he’s lucky because he was supposed to miss this years WM. He then says he respects the wrestling business no matter whether he gets booed or cheered. He also says he will deliver.

3:16 EST: Coach intros Randy Orton he also gets a mixed reaction. Orton says he younger, faster, stronger then Cena and HHH, the marks then start the Cena chant. Orton says after WM he will no longer be known as the “legend killer” he will be known as a legend. ORTON IS LEGEND coming to a theater near you.

3:22 EST: Coach intros HHH he is the only person so far to get 100% positive reaction. HHH says WM is bigger then the Superbowl(a bit much). He says like the Superbowl they all come to see “The Game”…….get it. Blah, Blah, Blah at WM the king will be back on his thrown HHH is done.

3:28 EST: Coach intros Candis Michelle and Maria and announces they will be in the first ever “Playboy Bunny Mania Match” whatever the fuck that is. Apparently its Maria’s birthday the crowd starts singing happy birthday to her. I refuse to waste my time transcribing this shit. The smart move would have been putting Santino out there with them.

3:31 EST: Coach intros Edge he also gets a mixed reaction. Edge talks about how The Undertaker is undefeated but so is he. Edge says quote “The streak comes to an end at the hands of the Rated R Superstar” then he walks off to mostly boo’s. Edge got less time then the divas.

3:34 EST Coach intros Rey Mysterio even though he wont be wrestling Coach says Rey will be coaching Floyd Mayweather. Rey gets the biggest pop so far, he starts speaking Spanish and the crowd gives him an even bigger pop. The crowd starts chanting something in Spanish(I don’t know what). Rey says he’s gonna come back stronger and faster(apparently Rey and Orton are big Kanye West fans).

3:40 EST Coach intros new Raw announcer Mike Adamle I don’t know why this guy gets the mic. Mike talks about the size difference between The Big Show and Mayweather. Mike now intros Shane McMahon says he’s responsible for getting the Mayweather/Big Show match together.

3:43 EST Shane says HBO, Direct TV and everybody in the boxing PPV business are worried. Cena chant starts for no good reason. Now a HHH chant starts for no good reason then Orton holds up the title and everybody boo’s him.

3:45 EST Shane intros Mayweather he comes out accompanied by his entourage as usual he also gets a mixed reaction. Some people start chanting De La Hoya. Mayweather thanks Vince, Shane and the WWE the De La Hoya chant contiues followed by a Big Show chant. Mayweather asked the crowd to refer to him as “Money Mayweather”. Mayweather then pulls out a stack of cash and offers to make it rain but he doesn’t. Mayweather seems to be enjoying the heel heat, he says it was the WWE but now it’s the MME(Money Mayweather Entertainment) clever. He continues to taunt the crowd so far Mayweather by far the most entertaining part of this press conference.

3:55 EST Mike Adamle comes back out and intros Big Show and the stream cuts off(not on my end the WWE screwed up somehow). The stream comes back Big Show is at the podium. He says he’s gonna slap around Mayweather at Mania. Mayweather then stands on a chair so that he’s eye to eye with Big Show. Mayweather then sits back down and thats it. What are they crazy? They didn’t stage any kind of fake scuffle that was the whole reason I sat through this shit. You think the WWE would have given the press some time to ask questions, just a thought.

So what is it that we’ve learned here, there’s gonna be some kind of “Playboy Bunny Mania Match” at WM, Edge held the entire SD! brand on his back for the better part of a year and yet he cant get more then 3mins at the WM24 press conference, LA loves Rey Mysterio, The Undertaker doesn’t get invited to press conferences and Floyd Mayweather works much better as a heel with no script.

Here is some post press conference material from the WWE, lets see how long it takes them to yank it from YouTube:

State Of The Titles: Nov 2007

What’s this? The singles titles in WWE are starting to get some prestige back? If November is a sign of things to come then that is definitely the case. The Intercontinental and US titles are in the capable hands of Jeff Hardy and MVP respectably. With the latter just waiting on Matt Hardy to return and his brother in a potentially huge feud with Triple H, there is definite potential as WWE move into the new year. And that’s before we even look at the big three titles:

Randy Orton
It looks like Randy Orton has cleaned up his act and really jumped on the opportunity he was given. Though it feels like he took a dozen super kicks this past month, he ultimately came out looking very strong against Shawn Michaels at Survivor Series. While he won’t ever be flamboyant and brash like The Rock, Chris Jericho etc, he has a manner all of his own that is really starting to come to the surface. While it looks inevitable he will drop the belt to Jericho, I can’t see it happening immediately. He will get plenty of RKO’s in before it does happen.

CM Punk
The Smackdown and ECW roster exchange is just the thing CM Punk needs right now. He has more to offer than what ECW can provide yet ECW badly needs him as their top face, so he’s really been wasting away these past months on the show with an uneventful title run. His mini feud with The Miz and John Morrison hinted at the potential of the new generation of WWE stars though.

Batista
Batista is on a roll right now. Firstly, there was the shock victory against Great Khali to win the heavyweight title, then there was the renewed feud with the Undertaker. Those two have some great chemistry in the ring and they put on some great performances. Now that Edge is back things look even better. I think it would be rash to rush the title off of Batista, but it’s looking increasingly likely he will get screwed out of it by Edge and Vickie Guerrero.

TNA
I thought I would group the TNA titles together because it looks like they have forgotten what a title feud is all about. Angle’s feud with Sting was more about personal issues than about taking the gold and he’s now wasting away time in a feud with The Outsiders who aren’t interested in the title belt either. The X Division provides some potential now that Team 3D have stolen the belt but right now I can’t see it leading to anything special. With Tomko injured that’s the tag division on hiatus too. Come on TNA, let’s see someone step up and have a good old fashioned title chase!

We Are Wrestling

Jericho good for RAW

Is Chris Jericho good for RAW? For me I would have to say no. Why, well it doesn’t have any thing to do with Jericho who I like but one person cannot change a show. I mean he is feuding with Orton oh yea. Now if it was Cena or maybe Triple H even HBK it would be good but Orton. I just think with Jericho on there it doesn’t make RAW or the WWE worth watching any time soon.
